# Create Your First Brand with Nomiq: 5-Minute Quickstart

> Follow this 5-minute quickstart to generate a brand name, logo, color palette, and downloadable brand kit using Nomiq Brand Studio.

This quickstart walks you through Nomiq's Brand Studio from a blank project to a downloaded, production-ready brand kit. By the end of these five steps you will have a brand name, logo, color palette, typography pairing, and a `.zip` archive containing SVGs, PNGs, and CSS variables — everything you need to ship a professional identity today.

## Before You Begin

Make sure you have the following before starting:

* A registered Nomiq account — the Free tier is sufficient to complete this guide
* A rough idea of your industry, your product, and the audience you are targeting
* Approximately five minutes of uninterrupted focus

<Note>
  You do not need a final brand name before starting. Nomiq will generate six name candidates for you in Step 3 — but if you already have a name, you can enter it as a custom value and skip the selection step.
</Note>

## Quickstart Steps

<Steps>
  <Step title="Initialize a New Project">
    Log into the Nomiq dashboard and navigate to your **Workspace**. This is the home screen that lists all of your active brand projects.

    1. Click the **New Project** button in the top-right corner of the Workspace screen.
    2. Select **Generate New Brand** from the project-type modal.
    3. Enter a working title for your project file — this is an internal label only and does not affect generation (e.g., `Acme Corp Identity` or `Client Pitch — April`).
    4. Click **Create Project** to open the Brand Studio canvas.

    <Tip>
      Use a descriptive project title that includes the client or product name and the date. When you have dozens of projects in your Workspace, clear naming saves significant time.
    </Tip>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Write the Brief">
    The brief is the most important input in the entire workflow. Everything Nomiq generates — names, colors, fonts, and logos — flows from the context you provide here.

    1. In the **Industry** dropdown, select the vertical that best matches your business (e.g., `Technology`, `Hospitality`, `Health & Wellness`, `Fashion`).
    2. In the **Description** field, describe what your company does and who it serves in one to two sentences.

    ```text theme={null}
    Example brief:
    "We are a B2B SaaS platform that helps local coffee shop owners
    manage inventory, staff scheduling, and loyalty programs from a
    single mobile dashboard."
    ```

    3. Optionally, add **Tone Keywords** — up to five adjectives that describe how you want the brand to feel (e.g., `warm`, `modern`, `trustworthy`, `bold`).
    4. Click **Generate Strategy** to move to the next step.

    <Warning>
      Avoid vague, metaphorical language in your brief. Phrases like "we disrupt the space" or "we empower people" give the AI no usable signal. Describe your actual product and actual audience as concretely as possible.
    </Warning>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select a Name and Voice">
    Nomiq generates six brand name candidates and three distinct brand voice profiles based on your brief. Your selections here lock the strategic foundation for every visual asset generated in the next step.

    1. Review the six name options displayed in the **Name Selector** panel. Each card shows the name, a one-line rationale, and a live domain availability indicator.
    2. Click a name card to select it. If you already have a name, click **Use Custom Name**, type it in, and confirm.
    3. Review the three **Brand Voice** profiles. Each profile includes a voice archetype label (e.g., *Professional & Authoritative*, *Playful & Approachable*, *Bold & Disruptive*), sample taglines, and sample social copy.
    4. Click the voice profile that best fits your target audience.
    5. Click **Lock Strategy & Generate Visuals** to commit your selections and advance the pipeline.

    <Note>
      Once you lock strategy, your chosen name and voice become the AI context for logo generation. You can unlock later via the top bar, but doing so forces a full logo regeneration because the letterforms are tied to the brand name.
    </Note>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Refine the Visual Identity">
    The AI Style Engine now generates a logo, a color palette, and a typography pairing calibrated to the name and voice you locked in the previous step. Use the Brand Studio Editor to iterate until the visuals match your vision.

    **Logo**

    1. Click the logo preview to open the **Logo Editor** panel.
    2. Use **Regenerate Icon** to swap the icon mark while keeping the wordmark.
    3. Toggle between **Horizontal**, **Stacked**, and **Icon Only** layout variants.
    4. Adjust the letter-spacing and weight slider for fine typographic control.

    **Color Palette**

    1. Review the generated primary, secondary, and accent swatches in the **Color Panel**.
    2. Click the **lock icon** on any swatch you want to keep, then click **Regenerate Palette** to reshuffle only the unlocked colors.
    3. Double-click any swatch to enter a specific hex value if you need to match an existing color.

    **Typography**

    1. Open the **Typography Panel** and toggle between *Serif*, *Sans-Serif*, and *Display* pairing presets.
    2. Each preset shows a heading and body text preview rendered in real time.
    3. Click **Apply Pairing** to confirm your selection.

    <Tip>
      Use the **Save Snapshot** button before each major regeneration. Snapshots let you compare versions side by side and roll back instantly if a new generation misses the mark.
    </Tip>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Export Your Brand Kit">
    Once you are satisfied with the visual identity, publish the brand and download the production-ready assets.

    1. Click **Publish Brand** in the top-right corner of the Brand Studio. Publishing compiles your guidelines and prepares your export files — it takes about 15 seconds.
    2. Navigate to the **Exports** tab in the left sidebar.
    3. Click **Download Full Kit (.zip)** to receive the complete asset package.

    Your downloaded `.zip` will contain:

    ```text theme={null}
    your-brand-kit/
    ├── logos/
    │   ├── logo-primary.svg
    │   ├── logo-dark.svg
    │   ├── logo-primary.png
    │   └── icon-mark.svg
    ├── fonts/
    │   └── brand-fonts.woff2
    ├── tokens/
    │   ├── tokens.json
    │   └── variables.css
    └── guidelines/
        └── brand-guidelines.pdf
    ```

    4. Optionally, copy the **Shareable Guidelines Link** from the Exports tab to give teammates or clients live, browser-based access to your brand rules without requiring a Nomiq account.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Troubleshooting

If something does not behave as expected, the issues below cover the most common stumbling blocks.

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="The generated logos look completely unrelated to my industry.">
    **Likely cause:** Your initial brief was too vague, too abstract, or contained contradictory signals (e.g., a description that mixes two unrelated industries).

    **How to fix it:**

    1. Return to the **Brief** panel by clicking **Edit Strategy** in the top bar.
    2. Rewrite your description so it explicitly states the core product and the primary customer. Avoid metaphors and buzzwords.
    3. Add two or three Tone Keywords that reflect the visual mood you want (e.g., `clean`, `earthy`, `high-tech`).
    4. Click **Regenerate Strategy** and lock the updated context before generating visuals again.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I cannot change the brand name after generating the logo.">
    **Likely cause:** Nomiq locks the brand name once strategy is committed because the wordmark's typographic composition is tied directly to the chosen letterforms.

    **How to fix it:**

    1. Click **Unlock Strategy** in the top bar. A confirmation dialog will warn you that unlocking forces a logo regeneration.
    2. Confirm the unlock, update the brand name, and click **Lock Strategy & Generate Visuals** again.
    3. If you want to preserve the previous logo as a reference, use **Save Snapshot** before unlocking so you can compare the two versions.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My Brand Kit download is missing the font files.">
    **Likely cause:** Some typefaces in Nomiq's library are licensed for web use only and cannot be bundled in a downloadable kit due to distribution restrictions.

    **How to fix it:**

    1. Open the **Typography Panel** and check whether a license badge appears next to the font name.
    2. If the badge reads **Web Only**, switch to a pairing marked **Downloadable** — these are either open-source or Nomiq-licensed fonts included in the kit.
    3. Alternatively, the `variables.css` file in your kit will include the correct `@import` URL for the web-licensed font, which you can use directly in your project.
