The Brand Studio’s visual editor gives you direct, granular control over the three pillars of your visual identity: logos, colors, and typography. Nomiq’s Visual Engine generates these assets automatically from your locked Brand Strategy, but the editor lets you dial in precise tweaks — swap a logo symbol, lock a hex value, or shift your typographic scale — without breaking the mathematical rules that keep your brand accessible and cohesive.

How the Visual Engine Works

Every asset Nomiq produces passes through a rules-based Visual Engine that sits on top of the AI model. The engine enforces graphic design principles — contrast ratios, clearspace minimums, and typographic hierarchy — so your output meets professional standards by default.
Your Brand Strategy — the voice, mission, and name you locked earlier — flows into the Visual Engine as contextual seed data. The engine uses it to select symbol categories, pick color temperature, and choose typeface archetypes that match your brand’s personality before you touch a single slider.

The Three Visual Pillars

1

Manipulate Your Logo

The logo is the anchor of your visual identity. Nomiq generates each logo as a combination of a custom typeset wordmark and a geometric SVG symbol.
  1. Toggle the layout. Click the logo canvas to switch between Horizontal (symbol left, wordmark right) and Stacked (symbol top, wordmark bottom). Use Horizontal for wide banners and navigation bars; use Stacked for square profile pictures and app icons.
  2. Swap the symbol. If you like the wordmark typography but not the generated symbol, open the Symbol tab and select a replacement from the contextual icon library. The library filters suggestions based on your industry and brand voice.
  3. Set clearspace. Drag the clearspace slider to define the minimum padding around your logo. This value is baked into every exported file so contractors and developers cannot accidentally crowd it against other elements.
If your brand name is longer than 15 characters, the Horizontal layout prevents the wordmark from wrapping awkwardly on small canvases. Switch to Stacked only for square-format applications like favicons or social media avatars.
2

Tune Your Color Palette

Nomiq generates a five-slot color hierarchy — Background, Surface, Primary, Secondary, and Text — calculated to meet WCAG AA contrast requirements out of the box.
  1. Lock swatches you want to keep. Click the padlock icon on any color (for example, your existing brand Primary) before you regenerate. Locked swatches are excluded from the next generation cycle.
  2. Regenerate the palette. Click Regenerate Palette. Nomiq calculates new values for every unlocked slot that are mathematically complementary to your locked colors.
  3. Override manually. Click any swatch and type a precise HEX or HSL value. The editor immediately runs a contrast check and flags any pairing that fails AA standards.
Locking every swatch before regenerating prevents the AI from changing anything. If you want to explore variations, leave at least one slot unlocked so the engine has room to work.
3

Refine Your Typography

Nomiq pairs open-source fonts for guaranteed web compatibility. Each project gets a Display font (used for H1–H3) and a Body font (used for paragraphs and UI labels), plus an auto-calculated typographic scale.
  1. Switch the archetype pairing. Open the Typography tab and toggle between Serif, Sans-Serif, and Display archetypes. Each archetype loads a curated font pair that matches your brand voice.
  2. Adjust the Display weight. Select the baseline font weight (e.g., 700 Bold or 900 Black) for your Display font. Heavier weights work for short, punchy headlines; lighter weights suit editorial brands.
  3. Review the typographic scale. Nomiq generates a CSS scale ratio (such as a 1.250 Major Third) automatically. Check the live preview to confirm your H1 is proportional to your Body text before you lock and export.
Nomiq exclusively uses fonts with open-source licenses (Google Fonts or similar) to ensure you can legally embed them in your website and export them inside your Brand Kit without additional licensing fees.

Professional Best Practices

  • Test your logo at 16 × 16 pixels. If it looks like a blur at favicon size, simplify the symbol. Intricate geometric details vanish below 32 px.
  • Let the math choose complementary colors. Lock your Primary and regenerate rather than manually guessing a Secondary. The engine produces mathematically precise complementary and analogous values every time.
  • Never set Body text in a Display font. Highly stylized Display typefaces become illegible at 14 px. Reserve them for headlines only, and keep Body text in a clean, readable sans-serif or serif pairing.

Common Mistakes

Locking Every Variable

Locking all colors, the symbol, and the typography simultaneously leaves the AI nothing to adjust. If you ask for a “more playful” direction, the engine cannot comply. Always unlock at least one pillar before regenerating.

Ignoring Contrast Warnings

Forcing a light yellow Primary on a white Background fails WCAG AA standards. Publish with a contrast warning active and your brand will be inaccessible to users with low vision. Resolve every warning before exporting.

Using Stacked Layout for Long Names

A brand name exceeding 15 characters in the Stacked layout compresses the wordmark until it becomes unreadable at small sizes. Switch to Horizontal so the text can spread across a wider canvas.

Skipping the Scale Preview

Accepting the default typographic scale without previewing it can leave you with an H1 that is only marginally larger than your Body text. Review the live scale before locking typography so the hierarchy reads clearly at a glance.
